URGENT!!! Stuck while pulling tranny from bellhousing, NEED HELP!

I am a grease ball right now, just rolled out from under my buddy's T/A, and we are stuck.

We have got everything apart, and we are pulling the tranny away from the bellhousing, and we got it about 1 inch out, and then it wont go any further.

We have it supported by a jack right now, but we need to get this out soon.

It will slide out an inch, and no further, we have tried pulling on the tranny rearward with no progress, is there anything that I might have forgotten that could be binding us up?

I have the hyd. stuff off, and there is nothing that I can see that is causing this,

PLEASE HELP,
James

The bell housing may be hitting the floor panel/housing deal. Make sure the tranny is tilted down far enough so that it clears. Also be sure the clutch fork is removed...that would make it tough to pull off the tranny .

Hope this helps.

My bad, I didn't see it was an A4, so don't worry about that clutch fork.

After you pull off the slave cylinder, you can reach into the opening and see the clutch fork. Just pull it out (diagonally towards the floor/driver seat) parallel to the flywheel. There are a couple spreings holding it on so you should feel it pop off. Be sure to remember how it goes on so so you whe it goes back together.

These are all probs I had when I did this a couple months ago!

Good luck!

If you haven't already released the clutch fork....then push the bell housing back into place and then pull straight back on the clutch fork to disengage it from the pressure plate.

I made the same mistake of slightly moving the bell housing back before disengaging the clutch fork and you can not get the fork to release with the bell housing moved.
