Upgrading to LE3 heads and a ported intake on my 847 setup. Big difference?
Upgrading to LE3 heads and a ported intake on my 847 setup. Big difference?
I am currently running the 847 with stock heads and 11.3 compression. I plan on going with some LE3 heads and a milled and ported lt1 intake. I also plan on doing some trimming to the bottom part of the intake to make some space to cool the intake down.
What kind of difference (ET-wise) will I see with these changes cetirus paribus?

I am running the same basic setup motor wise on my Impala SS. I am using the LE2 heads and the CC XE224/230 for now. Smaller cam but with this combo I have picked up almost a second in ET's over my previous heads that were ported by another well known porter. I too asked Lloyd about upgrading to the LE3 heads and due to the weight of my car he said not to use them. As for your lighter Fbody car is you dont mind shifting over 6500 rpms the LE3 heads are the way to go. Lloyd said they are great heads for a 355 Fbody that does't mind shifting at a higher rpm and for strokers that will build torque at lower rpms. Your best bet is talk to Lloyd. He will explain everything in terms you can understand and will answer any questions you may have. Lloyd rocks.

i have a 383 with LE2 heads stock intake ported just for 58mm TB and Made 417rwhp and 496 TQ with an auto. with the 847. It is a big diffrence But i talked to lloyed and he was saying that set up would peak around 6800 RPm where a 383 peaks around 6200. but ver minimal peak hp diffrence. Or look in to his custom cams.
Re: Upgrading to LE3 heads and a ported intake on my 847 setup. Big difference?
I just spoke to Lloyd a minute ago and have pretty much decided to go with the LE3 package. I will also be getting him to port my intake. To top it off, I will be going with a 58mm TB or monoblade TB. He said I will be making power up to 6800rpm and it will not really pull until 4000rpm. That is more than OK with me. I can't remember ever trying to race someone under 4000rpm.
I am still curious about what kind of gas mileage I will be getting with this setup compared to what I am getting now. Right now I am getting 200 miles in the city and 375 miles to the highway with my 847 setup on stock heads.

Hey KURT was wondering if your car is loud with the true duals and bullets?
I am wanting to change out my flowmaster and put a bullet in its place with no cats and LT headers..
think that would be too loud?

too loud for who? too loud for you? i couldnt tell you. it is definitely pretty loud. but then again, i dont mind my car being a little noisy. if your neighbors dont mind it being noisy once in a while and you dont mind driving a car thats almost as loud as a big rig, then you should be good to go.
