Was up with the 3k breakin before synthetic??

Breaking in my motor and I was going to go to 500 with a couple changes of dino oil before switching to synthetic. I was reading my Red Line oil and it says not to use for breaking in and only after 3,000 miles.

Regular dino-juice helps seals set better. If you use syn it takes a longer break-in

Yeah I know but everyone I talked to, including mechanics said to go to 500 and switch over.

Its a myth, why would GM pre-fill certain cars with synthetic if it needed to break in on dino oil? My car says to use synthetic right on it and it came filled with synthetic from the factory.

If its a myth I think oil manufacturers like RED LINE would know that, don't you???? Whiel would they themselves say that when that would only cause them to loose money? If it didn't say that I would have used it by now....or in like 38 miles when I hit 500.

If I ever built a new motor I'd fill the sucker up with synthetic from the get go. Porsche factory fill is synthetic, as is the Corvette. Really the only reason you should avoid synthetics for the break in period is cost. Most people don't want to pay a premium for synthetic oil and only use it for 500 miles. They would rather just buy regular oil because it's cheaper. To each their own, I don't think it matters either way, but I'm kinda **** so like I said, synthetic for me.

I will always use synthetic no matter what, I don't care what red line says. Don't hear about corvettes getting all screwey cause they have synthetic oil in them.

Exclamation not right away!

GM "pre-burnishes" their engines at the factory to seat them, then they get synthetic..

Don't run it right away on a new engine.. unless you get it from the GM factory as a complete engine..

Then you got people like comp cams that say to use dino oil for breakin and never syn. I'll listen to the machinist.

A certified car technician (whom I personally know not some idiot) told me that you should never use synthetic for the break in...and it was something to do with the seals setting if I can remember right. The new honda generator my dad bought said in the owners manual not to use synthetic for X hours too. Ive experimented with break-ins on dirt bikes (dont use oil ) and its proven to me that a good brake-in is VERY worth it... so Id be very fussy and NOT use synthetic for probably the first 2000... and changing every 500 until 1000, then at 2000 make the switch.

I dont get this statement. If an oil manufacturer...who would surely benifit from you using their oil earlier, says not to how can you dispute that?????

That's cause that's the correct way to do it... 500miles on DINO and then SWITCH!!!!

Cause it's a liability thing.. They don't want you to use it in your engine and then have something go wrong before 3K miles... Your really not supposed to break in an engine with synthetic, but 500 miles is supposed to the safe spot...

Is this true? About GM pre burnishing the engines or just hearsay? I have always wondered this myself. Is there anyway to conform this?
