UNTUNED 383 #'s

My first dyno run with the un-tuned computer with my 383 resulted in 298 rwhp and 314 rwtq. The mods are in my sig. What #'s do you think a dyno tune will bring it up to? What exactly does a dyno tune do? Thanks, Brian Kaiser

You should be 350+ rwhp with those mods so there are some issues somewhere. If you are running a stock tune then that may be whats holding you back. Hotcam isnt a bad cam at all but its kinda small for a 383 from what ppl say on here... in fact most guys with stock motors run larger cams than the hotcam.

I would think the shorty headers may be holding it back some as well...

Agreed.

A tune, some worthwhile headers will give you quite a nice little boost.

car is in the shop still. Its UNTUNED and it runs perfect as in idle and revving and driving...just lean sometimes and looking to squeeze out 340 or so rwhp after the tune. IMO that is a realistic goal....

Not that much. Plenty of guys make big power with shorty headers.

Just get it tunned see what it does and go from there, though its a 383, its still got shorties and basicaly stock heads. I wouldnt expect any big numbers from it.

Re: UNTUNED 383 #'s

hi brian you should be at 330rwhp with the hot cam kit,i had the hot cam kit with shorty headers and made 337rwhp with open cutout,so their could be some other issues. with a 383 i would go with longtubes at least a 230/236 cam and get those heads done, their is a local guy here in florida that does awesome work they put a coating on the heads that really adds air flow he has an awesome price as well.

Re: UNTUNED 383 #'s

Thanks for the responces. Just so there isnt a misunderstanding the motor was just installed and its still at the shop awaiting the dyno tuner man to come. The hurricane slowed him up a week. The plugs and wires and opti are perfect as it was 100% before the motor was taken out. The plugs are new. The car runs fine but the dyno tune is yet to be done. Soo im looking at 340+ rwhp and about 360 or so rwtq? Thanks, Brian Kaiser
