Question Typical hp/tq numbers for LT4 conversion?

My friend has a 95 Formula/auto and is interested in buying the LT4 conversion package from Summit.

What are the average numbers for LT1s that use this kit? I suspect he will be upgrading his exhaust and intake. As well as getting a tune.

Thanks, Mike.

I would be a little upset if all I could get was 30 hp over what I have with heads/cam.

I will still be owning him with a bolt on LT1.

We will see if he even gets it. He does a lot of talking it seems.

Thanks for the reply, Mike.

Tell him he can make the same numbers with the Hot cam kit and a set of Lloyd's heads, and he'll probably end up saving a grand on it.

Where can he find the Lloyd's heads?

Are you from Jacksonville FL?

dont mess with the lt4 conversion, its junk, 1) the heads flow a little more then LT1 heads, the LT4 hot cam is too small, and the intake is almost the same too. save money and make more power just get the lt1 heads on the car ported by a good porter. search for lloyd, TEA,GTP,RGR,Combination motorsports, race prep etc, have the intake matched to the head at the same time, then buy the valvetrain components.... 1.6 rockers used $100, new springs $100 etc. and for the cam you can retain the same drivability out of a 230/236 XE compcam as you would with the almost stock hotcam and make alot more power. in all honesty for less money you can make 50++ more HP if you play your cards right

972-617-5671 <-- should be Lloyd's number. Give him a call. Yeah, I'm in Florida. I wish it would warm up again, too cold to work on the car.

If you're looking for someone to do work around here, PM me and I'll give you some suggestions.

I did the conversion, haven't had it on a dyno but, the datamaster guesstimate dyno is saying around 380. I'd like to strap it down to confirm these numbers, but haven't had the time or $. I'm not too sure about the short block I strapped it all on to, but it's running good and winds out like a freakin banshee. Plus I love the cam action at stoplights, gets people looking.

I really don't see why everyone is talking trash about the conversion. Everything was there, didn't have to worry about something not working with another, has a warranty, I'm a step above the LT1, when I go to port the heads I'll be whooping up on them, there's a couple others out there running the same combo so you have some product familiarity if you need help.

plus I love the look on peoples faces when I answer their question, "what have you got in that truck??" makes a more powerful statement than a lt1 with this and that and that, and oh yeah, this dudes work here, etc etc.

Thanks guys. This isn't for me.

I will eventually have my heads ported and then have a cam specced for my setup. Should easily have over 400 to the wheels and a good idle. Then the blower!

You better be careful, high dynamic compression numbers and boost do not mix well, especially on the cast LT1 pistons.

I wanted to drop the cr with some forged slugs and rods and crank.

I still haven't actually gotten the blower working yet. It has been almost 2 years since I got it. I am having to redesign the bracket and whole ducting setup

Why are you having to redesign the bracket?

The stock location for the blower puts it interfering with the steering box. So I went with a tubular kmember and wanted to convert to rack and pinion. But then the input shaft still interefered with the inlet hose of the blower.

So I made a template that puts it up about where the alternator is but on the opposite side. It looks like I am finished with it so my dad gets it and he will cut out a piece of aluminum on the water jet at work.
