SFC install varies a lot. I've heard of install prices from $50 to $150. I would find a SoCal car club and get their recommendations. Any performance shop should be able to help you out.

You can pass smog with a cutout. Just make sure it's sealed tight so no oxygen gets in. I have known people that have failed their smogs because their cutouts weren't tight.

for the SFC install if you have the areas prepped (paint removed for the welding areas) the welding should only cost about 50-75 bucks. With CA inflation, i guess 100 or so. If you expect the shop to prep everything and then paint the weld areas when their done it could be a lot more like 250-300. Just a guess though, my sister lives up in the bay area and i know stuff is significantly more expensive than around here.

In terms of the smog test the cutout shouldn't affect a sniffer even if it does leak a lil. If it's after the cat and all the sensors their is no way for it to introduce hydrocarbons NOx ect. They won't fail you for having too much oxygen coming out the pipe. The visual test you may not pass though. I don't know CA law, but in PA cutouts are illegal.

sorry, my topic IS about install prices.
i was refering to norcal's sig about sfc prices because it said boxed sfc's for 149.95 or something like that. i haven't ordered mine yet so i was wondering if he could give that price shipped. but yes, i originally was asking about the install price. sorry for the confusion.

No, I'm talking about installation prices that a welder would charge you. If you're interested in pricing visit my website at http://www.norcalstreet.com

Just add any item into your shopping cart and it will give you a breakdown on the pricing.

$250 to $300 for installation alone is higher than anything you'll find around here. I agree that California prices are generally higher than other states. I would not pay more than $150 for installation (that prices does not include parts) and even that I consider high.

I always try and maintain a good relationship with shops I take my cars too. My exhaust guy knows my car by heart.
