Talking Two Questions- Tires and Heads...

Alright I have two questions:

1. I need new rear tires, Does anyone have good links for fair priced tires? What is the biggest size I can get? I have 16 by 8 rims. I want something that will get some traction, but I am not to familiar with tires so I need some help in deciding. Nitto, bf goodrich, other options?

2. Im stuck on my heads and cam. I have three options. A.I. with the sale, which I dont know if I can afford right now, well I can afford them, but my dad has to help me out with a few hundred dollars. I emailed a local performance shop and they want 2300 for stage 2, but I dont really want stage 2, unless everything Im looking at is stage 2. How does Lloyd compare to someone like A.I.? He gave me a good price and I wouldnt be pressured by a sale.

Thanks

The best all around tire I have found is the Nitto 555Rs, they have a soft compound so they hook well and yet they have great wear. The BFGs wear out too fast but they hook a little better. To me if you will drive it on the street a whole lot its a no brainer get the Nittos.

I have read a lot about Phil but don't know anyone personally with his heads. I do however know someone with a set of Lloyds heads and he loves them. Through an auto with a very small cam this kid made almost 400rwhp. IMHO you will be happy if you choose either of those two.

Would those nittos be to much for my stock rear? Any links to places with good tire prices?

I wouldnt worry about 245-50/16 nittos. They should be fine, but then again some 10 bolts are going 10s and others break on low 13 second runs. As a reference I run 315 Nittos on my stock 10 bolt and have had no probs to date.

If you want something comparable to the other options you're considering, we do have an Econoport package that's pretty cheap & easily on par with most any of the "full port/Stage 2" packages out there.

Honestly though... cz28 is a great resource, I'd simply search for actual dyno graphs & go from there with whatever suits you best

Good Luck!

-Phil

Edit: D'oh, typo

Just ordered Nitto 555R tires and front powerslot rotors and Hawk pads from tbyrne. Man what a steep price for things. Im hopping maybe they will let me get in late on that 10 % of all tires...its worth a try. Thanks for all the replies. Say bye bye Mr. Stock Rear!!

I'm the guy with the Lloyds heads and a small cam(~220/226) that KCformula was talking about. I put down 384rwhp before tuning and with timing pulled at wot because of a weird knock problem. It should be 400rwhp no problem with the problems fixed and with it tuned. I ran my first pass on the setup Sunday and ran a 12.12 with a 1.68 60ft.
