Question turning off car when stopped in drive

i have an A4, i accidently turned off my car before puttin it in park so i just put it in park after i turned it off. now at high throttle the engine knocks i think. it was more of a clunk. (the clunk only happend 2 times) acceleration is a little slower too. my gas peddle is harder to press too. anyone have any idea what happend the problem started to go away after a bit so it seemed. but i still want to know if anything bad could have happend just to be safe. thanks

I would look over the throttle cable if the pedals sticking thats probably it. Oh and take the intake elbow off and look at the position of the throttle body blade with a rock on the pedal. This is just a guess but maybe the symptoms you descriped are caused by the tps sensor giving the computer computer the wrong readings on what position the blade is actually in which would cause a lean/rich condition and might lead to what you described.

I think those problems are just coincidental. I've shut off plenty of cars while in drive since I am so used to driving a manual and none of the cars have done what you are experiencing.

I agree. Shutting it off in drive should not be or cause a problem.
