turn signal stopped working

hey guys a little problem. hopefully someone can help me out. my drivers side turn signal stopped working. basically it has stopped blinking. green arrow inside car doesn't blink and lights outside dont blink they just stay solid. passenger side works like normal and everything else works fine. drivers side just wont blink. any ideas what it would be. wouldn't the left and right side flasher be controlled by same device?
thanks guys

Probably a burned out high filament. Try your hazard flashers and see which bulb does not flash, then replace that one.

both is under the driver side, the hazzard flasher is under the steering wheel and the turning flasher is near the console.

Sorry, but that is exactly the symptom of a burned out bulb element or bad bulb connection. The flasher needs the resistance of the elements in all the bulbs in the circuit to make it flash. If one of the elements is out, then the flasher's bimetal strip will not heat up enough to cause the "make/break" function that causes the flashing.

Then try replacing the turn signal flasher (though I can't see why it would affect only one side, since the same flasher works both sides) or check the wiring connections at the base of the steering column.

I think I paid something like $2.50 for mine from Autozone if I remember right. It's been awhile though, but they're not expensive at all.

Mine did the exact same thing. I replaced the socket, because the ground contact was fugged up. The one I replaced was the socket closest to the middle of the car. I got the new socket at Car Quest, and it only ran me 6 bucks.
