Turbo DSM Injectors

Stock fuel injectors from a DSM are rated at ~42# and I was told they can hit 50psi at WOT. They hold open when they go bad like the SVOs. The pictures that I've seen look just like the LT1 injectors, well, at least they are the same shape (different colors.)

I'm wondering if these will work for us late model GM guys? Those folks often upgrade to larger injectors, so we can get these for pretty good prices. I know that a 42# injector is too much, but in the case of fuel delievery with proper tuning, too much is better than not enough.

42# might be about right for a 6500+RPM stroker with a dry nitrous system.

This is kinda like the 5.0 folks swapping stock LT1/LS1 injectors to replace their stock 19# injectors.

What kind of info do I need to find out to see if these will work before I buy some? A friend of mine tunes DSM stuff all the time and wants to help with this "project"

Most all the DSM injectors have a low coil impedance about 2 - 3 ohms that requires a different driver circuit in the PCM. The LT1 injectors are 12-14 ohms. Installing the DSM's will damage your PCM. There are adapters available, but they cost as much as a set of the correct type of injectors. There are advantages to using the low impedance units such as high flows and faster on/off times.

What are you talking about hitting 50 PSI? The injectors are rated in LB/HR at a given fuel pressure. Usually, LT1's use 45-48 PSI at WOT. Turn up the fuel pressure and the injectors will flow more, turn it down and they will flow less.

Go check out the calculators page and enter in your Hp (on the gas) with a duty cycle of 80% and it will tell your your optimal injector size.

I meant that those motors have been known to put out that much fuel at wide open throttle.
