Tune Up Help

First off my car is overdue for a tuneup
94 TA 103K hasn't had one since before 64K miles and my car is bucking like a bull cuz theres something screwy with the distributor cap firing or something...

My mechanic wants about $1000 for a tune up

My buddy is going to do it for me...(he knows what hes doing)

I'm replacing:

Opti-spark ( I think that comes with the distributor cap no clue??)
plugs
wires
serpentine belt
Water pumps
fuel filter
new antifreeze
and i have to clean my K&N

Should I replace anything else???

I would hold off on the opti and waterpump.... Do the plugs, wires and fuel filter first.. Then see how the engine runs... Fluid changes are good also.. dont forget to open the air bleeds on the radiator system after changing it, because you could get air in the system....

Also, is the PCM throwing codes???? That would help find out if something is not functioning properly.....

how can they tell without first chaning the plugs and wires?
like i said in your other post-
the opti is the redheaded step child of this car

if you get a flat tire they will find a way a blame it on the poor opti
