tune up

Can someone outline a good tuneup someone with modest mechanical skills can do from their house so they dont go and blow a **** load of money at the dealership or some other shop? I know when i got my first major tuneup i paid a butt load of money, and dont want to make that same mistake.

With a socket and wrench set, a jack and a pair of jackstands, you can do everything at home. This spring, I did my own tune up as well. This is what it consisted of:

GM plug wires ($100cdn)
NGK TR55 Plugs ($30cdn)
GM Coil, coil wire. ($50cdn)
GM Fuel Filter ($7cdn)
And new differential fluid, and tranny fluid. (Mobil 1 synthetic for everything. Whatever u choose... ($60cdn)

Car picked up ALOT. I had 100000km on the clock when I did this. Improved my best time by 2/10ths. Plug wires were BAD.

Should take you a day to get this all done. Plug wires are a PITA.
