TTS as a data logger

I would like to use TTS and my laptop as a data-logger when I run my 1995 Formula LT1. Does anyone have a setup with pics to share. Is this a decent idea or is it more trouble than it's worth. I know data systems are becoming more affordable every day. Any thoughts?

Yes this is easily done. Just download Datamaster from TTS and install it on your computer. They will give you 20 free records and then it's around 120 to register it. You will also need an ALDL cable and you can get one from here http://www.aldlcable.com/ and for your car you will require the OBDII adaptor and OBDI cable as the 95's have the OBDII port but still an OBDI comp. Good luck and you can find alot of information on TTS's website.

For that much money, a person is better off with TunerCat, a good
cable (such as from aldl.com) . . . there are options for free data
logging software. Don't get me rwong, DataMaster is great software
if you're racing or you tune for a living.

DataMaster is a very comprehensive and easy to use data logging software. Give it a try for 20 free scans and see how you like. You can also register the software through AKM for a little cheaper, if you care to keep.

I don't understand the reference to TunerCat, it doesn't data log. But, will be needed if you want to make changes in your tune.

Your second sentence answers the first

I'd rather spend LESS money on tuning software (than ONLY on
logging software), use free logging s/w so I can turn around and
tune based on the logs.

It has been a while since I tried any of the free data logging software. Which one works the best? I would like to give it a try.

Datamaster would be fine for logging. I use it and it comes in real handy. You need to go to AKMcables and get either the usb or rs232 box depending on which port you have on your laptop. PM me for info on Datamaster.
Where do you run IHRA meets? I run the Summit Series this year. Div 5

Datamaster is free for 20 recording sessions and most novice tuners/learners can record and change most of their stuff in less than 10 recordings. Don't get me wrong but the free loggers out there like freescan - etc... you will spend 10x more time trying to figure them out and get them working than just using the free records on Datamaster and then buying it if you need to. Remember, it's good to be OBDI sometimes as shelling out the cash for a fully licensed copy of datamaster and Tunercat is still half the price of a tuner for OBDII tuner programs.

Thanks for all the replys. Does anyone have a suggestion for a mount for the laptop during runs?

Jim, the hot keys work really well on that software too. I can pause, restart, quit, etc. by hitting one key. That makes it really easy when you're flyin' down the track. Autolog feature is nice too
