True Duals Owners

Ok Im going to get the JetHOt LT's. And this is what I planned on doing. After the headers runing a 3"-2 1/2" converter. Then runing 2.5" Sweet Thunder Alum mufflers, with a dump facing the ground at the end before the axels. I figured this will keep the car loud, but not "ticket time" loud? What do you guys think? Did any of you run 2 1/2's after the header? Or would runing would keeping the mufflers 3" be just fine?

Personally, I would run 3 inch and X or H Pipe it somewhere. The mufflers would quiet it down so it isn't SO loud, but I don't know how much.

unless you have 18" rims or a car lifted higher than stock, there is no way you will fit a muffler before rear axle. You can fit two bullet mufflers in the tunnel brace though. I had true duals with bullets that were tooloud, and then I added two muflers that just made my ground clearance very low.

I actually had summit 3" turbo mufflers right before my rear axles with no clearance problems. I switched over to Purple Hornies after a couple years though due to I wanted to be able to remove the mufflers at the track with ease.

Well the mufflers Im talking about are no bigger then the bullet mufflers. So they arent going to bulky and really take up big space. But I will take the clearance issues into concideration.

Anyonegot pics of True Dual setups for 4th gens? Pics Please.

Id say go with the bullits the first time around since they are cheap. If they end up working out for you it wouldnt have been pricey. The Flo por twister mufflers sound pretty good as well.

There are some clips and pics here www.laneswheels.com I think they are all ls1s. im not sure I havent been there in a while but they will sound damn nicer on a LT1 though

Good Luck,

My friend has a 98 Z28 with a H pipe and two Flowmaster mufflers....so don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. On the other side though, they had to hit up the car a little underneath to get them to fit...something I wouldn't want done to my car.

As of right now, I have x pipe with 3" bullets and have yet to get a fine or anything...hope it stays that way. Things like that aren't enforced very much around here though.

Here's how they sound:

Sorry to intrude on the thread but the answer might help you out.

Whats the longest bullets you can run under the car. I would be running it all the way out the back if I do it, I want it quiter or the same decibels as my flowmaster catback now. How would it sound with the longest GMMG chambered bullets, an xpipe, and out the back?

ty for the info folks. Looks like if I run the 3" to 2 1/2" converter to the sweet thunder mufflers, for a true dual setup, it should work great. Cause Im sure it will still be fn loud, but not getting pulled over loud. Gripenfelter, that is one bad *** car you have. Thanks for the pics and clips.

The sweet thunder mufflers are no bigger then a dynomax bullet. So I think they will work fine. The ones I will order are the 18", and they are still a straight through design, so they should just mellow out the raspy sound basicly, but keep the rumble.

If you guys still have some opinions, or are runing somthing else, feel free to post. Im up for any suggestions. Im also looking for some more pics.

An other question I had was.... Will I be shooting my self in the foot, if I dont run a H or X pipe?

H-pipe is more for sound and a bit of power. Gives you a deeper sounding exhaust.

The X-pipe is more for hp than sound. More of a higher pitched sound in comparison.

Flo Pros are pretty good mufflers as well.
