True Duals over the axle???

Has anyone ran 3" true duals over the axle? If so, could you please send pics or tell me how it is done? example: both on one side or up and over pumpkin one on each side.

I would like to go true duals, but I have heard that the cab of the car will fill with exhaust fumes when they are ended before the rear axle. and I need to go with 3" duals because of the H/P I will be runnig.

Thanks

Paul

In my opinion you don,t need the hassle of trying to run duals over the axle.
I am currently running header mufflers with turndowns that exit right below the drivers and passengers seat.
No problems or fuel smell so do yourself a favor and just run em to the rear axle with turndowns.
Also if you do it this way it will be alot easier to drop the exhaust should you need to.

have seen a setup that goes over the axle forget who has it,but it was sweet.I am not a fan of the dump befor axle look only on a race car that never sees the street or on older muscle cars.It is kind of country on 4th gen.Spend the extra money and do it right over the axle it can be done.

Cool

1. Expensive
2. Impossible with 3 "

It's a super expensive way to do it with all kinds of relocation for everything above the axle. That posted link is from Modern Muscle car and from what I understand it cost a pretty penny and it isn't 3". Most i've ever seen over the axle is 2 1/2".
I've just got mine dumped at the rear axle. I'm making a cover to go over the big gaping space left from where the muffler used to reside. Thats clean

Neither actually, provided you don't mind driving to DFW. I have seen many done over the axle, with 3" true duals.

alright how much power would a 2.5 cost over a 3in pipe. How many people run dumps at the track anyway. It seems everybody wants dual 3in just to say I have dual 3in.how many people make that power for dual 3in.Remember one of the fastest street driven f bodies has a single exhaust.
As far as it looking like a civic your crazy how many 4th gen f/bodies look like a civic none.As far as the mufflers in the back like that,I'm not a fan besides on the ground you really can't see them anyway.Cost aside the work is beautiful. If it was me I would do something similar to gmmg when I got over the axle. Those chambered mufflers fit in perfect there. The pipe that goes over on the left crosses over and exits on the right. But please do not ever mistake an f/body for a civic. What kind of car person are you. Whats next a geo looks like a z06 on you.

3" duals is overkill on a stock engine

I agree - however I am running a 383 fully forged stroker fed by a vortech t-trim supercharger - so I need to be able to get the air that's being forced into the engine out.....

Also - I agree that for the amount of money spent on the exhaust for that camaro - IMO it looks very importish

With that combo I still say your better off dumping it before the axle.
I love how alot of people jump on the magazine band wagon and let those people dictate what is cool and what is not.
Your tires should be under the fenders, you should have your exhaust exiting the rear, you should put on big 18 inch wheels cause we say you should.
I hate that crap.
Be original, go your own way and do want you want and don,t give a good god damn if anybody else likes it or not.
I have done alot of the same tricks I used on my 60s and early 70s musclecars on my 94 and I think it looks really cool and sounds badass.
Course there are alot of people who say " thats not whats in the magazines nowadays so it looks ghetto."
AAARRRRGGG!!!! I can,t stand sheep!!!!!!

Ok, I am done ranting now.

I dunno about other people, but the reason I personally would want true duals to exit at the bumper has nothing to do with what the magazines say. I have a trans am, and it has the cutouts in the rear bumper cover for the exhaust pipes. If I ran true duals and dumped em before the axle, I'd have these big stupid looking holes on the back of my car. Therefore, if I do ever get true duals, they will exit at the stock locations. However, if I had a camaro, it would have LT headers into an X-pipe, into dual turndowns right before the axle, no mufflers, noise be damned

So as for the camaro guys, (and non-T/A firebirds? for some reason I can't visualize the bumper in my head at the moment), where the true duals exit is a matter of opinion, but at least for us trans am guys, it would look pretty goofy with the stock bumper cover...
