True Duals or Not True Duals...
Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
Need to check emissions requirements in your area too. If it's ok to do it then see above post
Add unwanted attention from the police too, cause they will definitely hear you coming.

Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
advantages: great sound, usually less restrictive and allows you many muffler and piping options.
disadvantages: space on cars with SFC's. expensive to have it custom done, especially if you go over the axles. and to keep on that topic, it's a PITA to go over the axles, but that is what looks the best.

Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
Well what is the norm? Cause I do have bolton SFCs so not sure what to do... I guess another big question is...is it worth the expense for the limited torque and HP gain? I do want more HP, who doesnt? LOL... but sound is also a major plus... suggestions?
Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
For the money your going to spend on doing it (unless you fab it up yourself) you would be better off putting it somewhere else, IF your doing it for the power gain. Most don't do it for a 7-15hp your going to see over a y pipe. The sound, look and mostly because true duals are a muscle car thing. I live in the chicago burbs a close to ls1 speed or speed inc. They do it custom for 1200, For that much you could pick up a n20 kit and every goodie/safety item. Or LE2 heads, my point is that the hp gain is very small for the cost.
Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
i did it for 210 installed.....thats cheaper than a catback
Sound
Horsepower
Torque
and you don't sound like the other 100,000 with an lt1 and flowmaster

Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
I had true duals and I run Purple Horney header mufflers now. The header mufflers weigh significantly less than the true duals and were quiter in car. The true duals sound better IMO. My car sounded like a friend's full exhaust C5 Z06. The header mufflers sound raspy like a late 60's muscle car. They both scream the same at WOT.
Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
Well if someone could be so kind, could you type up a rough draft of what I need to go true duals and maybe a rough idea of what the cost of at least parts will run. Would really appreciate it...
I just got the car so not familier with everything he got on this plus dont know much about anything about anything when it comes to cars... I seriously need to find some people I can hang out with that know this stuff so I can learn.
This is a full list of what he emailed me that is on this car right now:

(Example: Someone on another site told me I should go back to a stock 48mm TB unless I am going to do a head/cam job cause he said I am going to burn up my trans clutch bands... though my mechanic says he never heard of such a thing)

Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
I drove my car with open headers to the exhaust shop...
Keep in mind the car has eibachs in the front and kenny brown subframe connectors. I do bottom out fairly frequently, but most of the time it is just scraping.
3" custom duals with x-pipe and 2 single chamber flowmaster mufflers dumped at the axle....first of all no its not too loud unless you wear a skirt and have breasts. it has the perfect tone, more like a mustang, sorry lets face it they do sound better.
anyway, whole setup custom done for $400 - this includes parts, labor, etc. included fake cats welded in to pass the visual inspection on OBDI cars (<1995).
so yes legality will be an issue, but cost should not be and youre car will definitely feel better at the top end. (i went from edelbrock shorties, y-pipe to pacesetter LTs with x-pipe and dumps) - hope this helps!

Re: True Duals or Not True Duals...
I recently finished my exhaust, and I'm extremely satisfied. I welded a $35 bullet muffler to my y-pipe and added on a nice turndown. Strap mounted to the trans tunnel. It shakes a bit (need to add some cushioning to the mounting bolts) but the car definitely sounds badass. Ground clearance with the pacesetter y-pipe is great, and the muffler outlet is only about 2" lower than my tips were on the flowmaster catback. and the system is extremely lightweight compared to the catback.
Custom installation done for a total of $60, hahaha.
