true dual questions!!

I'm looking at putting on true duals (after i get my longtubes). I've seen pictures of an X-pipe, two bullet mufflers, and custom pipes exiting up over the rear axle. My questions are:
1. Is there enough ground clearance for the x-pipe and bullets?
2. Is it hard/expensive to fabricate the pipes that go from the bullets over the rear axles and out the back?
3. What type/brand/dimensions of x-pipe should i be looking at, and where would I get it?
4. Would it be easier to have the exhaust end after the bullets and have the exhaust dump underneath the car? or is this a bad idea?
5. Is this setup better than having a y-pipe and a cutout?

Any other info would be appreciated.

All of this is really a matter of opinion, and if you use the search function, you will find all your answers. This has to be one of the hottest topics on the board.

It cost me about $500 for the setup including the materials, and coating, it wasnt bad at all, i had them over the rear axel and out the back to the SLP loudmouth 4 in 1 tip, but just to warn you...its a very obnoxious roar, i personally liked it but I have had people who drive harleys tell me it was too much, dynamat the interior if you intend to do this lol. you can coast in 3rd an still have a great sound though

as for #3 they didnt use a brand when they made it, every bend and weld was custom, it was quicker and easier for them to do this than to play around and waste time. if i still had that exhaust setup on I would send you a picture but i lost the true duals when i went with the turbo...like that matters lol good luck

1. Yes. But if the wrong shop or person is doing the job it can get ugly. Its not the best idea if you plan on lowering the car.

2. Depends on the shop. The shop that did my exhaust (non x-pipe) did it, for 100 bux. I suppled the collector reducers and bullet mufflers.

3. You can run a 2 1/2" or 3" X-pipe. Summit and jegs should sell universal ones. I personally think 3 inch is overkill unless your making over 400 hp. And even then it may be an overkill. But hey, there are plenty out there with 3 inch setups, but remember they are going to be louder, and have less clearence.

4. Not a bad idea at all. Thats what my current setup is. Actually mine dumps before the axel. It will cost less money, and still sounds great, no performance loss.

5. Yes. Most people will gain a decent amount of tq when going with an x-pipe setup. How much a difference? I'm not sure. But trust me, the sound alone will make you wanna choose the true duals

Re: true dual questions!!

My exhaust shop said they couldnt even run true duals. They weren't interested in even trying. I have to buy the setup from Texas Speed.

Re: true dual questions!!

alot of shops will probably say no about it too, especially if you mention the removal of the cats =O....alot of the chain shops are like this e.g. meineke, midas, r&s
