True dual exhaust questions...

Okay I am really thinking about getting a true dual setup going. If you have the exhaust on your ride, let me know how much it was, and if you are happy with the performance. A sound clip would be pretty sweet too. What do you think, good idead or bad. My friend was telling me about a company that has a custom dual and x-pipe setup for our cars. Anybody have any idea who it is?

I love my duals. Mufflers were 35 a piece form summit. Custom x-pipe and install of remaining pipe was under $250. I love the sound. Will get soundclips tues. or wed on my day off.

I have seen a couple of pics of early LT1's with the x-pipe, so I assume it will fit. Dunno though.

Personally when I dealt with them there was a misunderstanding and they didn't send it welded up completely because they thought I wanted it early and was willing to weld it together. Regardless, I had Raysur (Ray with the corvette) weld it up for me and it went together well. They ended up refunding me part of the money for the system due to that fact. They are very flexible and good to deal with IMO.

The install generally was easy. You'll have to remove the back seats to install it (putting the back hangers in), but mine was already out.

I love the system, which I paid 600 dollars for which for the cost of a Y-pipe, and a good catback (like borla) is quite reasonable.

The sound is awesome, much better than any y-pipe F-body. It's also great with cammed cars because the X-pipe scavenges so well. Around 1700-1800 rpm, everything smoothes out. More so than with the stock cam and the y-pipe. It makes more horsepower and torque than the Mufflex 4" I've seen dyno sheets.

For what your going with I'd give it a pair of thumbs up. But I wouldn't go with Bullet Race Mufflers, I'd go with something a little more quiet.

Are you referring to a dual 3" setup? What mufflers did you use, the twisters?

I am using the bullet race mufflers 12" a piece and yes I have dual 3".

It's a bit loud for every day, but it does sound great. I usually drive it on the weekends or a nice day.

Also running the duals to x-pipe into bullit mufflers. I love mine..dont drive it everyday but the sound of it is just awesome
Gotta love that power boat sound coming out of a car. You get a little popping with the mufflers at higher rpms but thats after you let off the throttle. Hope this helps you out with your decision.

I had that as well, but as my car is getting better tuned for the cam, and everything it has mostly gone away. Before the tune at every shift I would make a nice backfire Pretty amazing sounding.

I have 3" X-pipe Bulleted true duals also on my hawk. Paid 300 parts and labor. I also drive mine everyday and love it, then again I like loud cars. I got mine done for very cheap and it hangs extremely low on the car so I am going to try and get a 2 1/2 inch reducer and try to get them over the axle.

I will try to get a soundclip up this weekend

What mufflers should I get so it doesn't backfire? I do not like the sound of backfires or popping. The sound levels really do not matter to me how loud it is. So the bullets are pretty loud huh? Maybe I could get 2 loudmouth resonators and put those in, wonder what it would sound like? I bet it would be loud as all hell.

Well after speaking to Pyle (from TWR) one night, he recommended Dynomax UltraBullets which are a lot quieter evidently. I hear good things about the spiral flow mufflers as well. I'd talk with the people at Lanes Wheels... They put the stuff on everyday.
