Well we all know that trip odometers are found of crapping out in LT1 cars, so has anyone sucessfully fixed one and could give detail on how to do so. After searching I read that it is a gear that somehow pops off, but could anyone offer further deatil? Thanks.

 

You have to remove the cluster and tediously take the trip odo apart. You will probably find that the drive gear is cracked and therefore will spin on the shaft, instead of staying put. Take it with you to a speedo repair shop to try to match up a new one.
