I'm still suprised that people use them considering the rep they've had for awhile now. I'm in the state of NC and wouldn't even order a filter from them over most of the people I've dealt with. Forget anything but going to court. Don't try and work it out because it only delays things more and is a waste of your time. I don't believe you've had alot of experience with the courts in our state vs. mechanics/ garages but the mechanic/ garage is always at a disadvantage. If you realized how much so then you probably wouldn't even worry about this being settled in your favor.

any updates??

ive been to small claims court about a situation not unlike yours, i won, with the help from an expert witness, make sure you have an expert witness too!! This witness should be a mechanic capable of work on a t56, and who knows what this trans should be able to handle, and can tell the judge why the transmission had failed (incorrectly assembled obviously) with evidence to back it up, this means you will most likely have to take this very transmission to a different shop, have them tear it down, and tell you why it has failed...then get them to go to court with you (thats what i did anyway) ...The fact is, your trans was built wrong, a correctly built stock transmission will handle a slightly modded lt1 like yours. good luck man!

Well, from the day I bought my Camaro it had a busted 3-4 synchro. Two days after I had it it popped out of third. It was no big deal though. I knew it would need to be replaced, and started saving. Well, on my way to the beach last summer it got stuck in 4th gear. I made the 4 hour drive home stuck in 4th and totally fried the flywheel in the process.

I took my car to More Performance Inc. in Charlotte, NC. I was told they were the best. I told them I wanted a full T56 rebuild and a Spec Stage II clutch. I had a repair bill of over $2800, which was over $1000 more than originally quoted, but I was satisfied nonetheless.

You can understand my sheer horror when the transmission was broken again not two months later. I took it back to More, where I was told that some piece had broken and they would cut me a "real deal" and rebuild it for me for only $400. Well, I paid, reluctant, but honestly I needed my only means of transportation.

Not 2 weeks later, the car got stuck in 4th AGAIN! This time I took it back and they told me it would be an ADDITIONAL $500! I told them this was unacceptable and that I was not going to pay them a dime. After much debate on their part, they reluctantly fixed the car, after the parts manager badgered me and accused me of going to the track every week, in which case the car had not even been since the very first rebuild, much less on a weekly basis.

So now, a couple of months later, the car is broken again. Guess whats wrong? The 3-4 synchro.. The same thing as every other time.... I can still drive, but I am unable to use 4th gear at all now, for fear it will get stuck. I write them a letter certified mail, telling them I want my money back or a new tranny from GM (Which I could have afforded by now) and what do they do? Ignore me. They have yet to respond, for over 2-3 weeks now.

I have since filed a complaint with the BBB. These guys are real scammers. They do not stand behind their work! They are horrible! The owner Mike refuses to back up his product despite the THOUSANDS of dollars I have paid him.

The car sees no track time. It has a ripper shifter and makes a MODEST 300 some odd ft/lbs of torque at the wheels. Even if I beat the **** out of the car there is no way I should be able to break it in such a short period of time. The car is babied in every way possible, only because it is for sale, and I want to get rid of the damn thing, and yet I am still here, talking to you with a broken transmission.

Who knows how long it will take for my BBB claim to go through? Anyone have any other suggestions? I am probably going to buy a junked T56 from the salvage yard for the mean time since I have no other real options...

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MORE PERFORMANCE INC. THEY DO POOR WORK, DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK, AND HAVE THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE POSSIBLE.
Are you sure you didn't accidentally bring it to CHESAPEAKE TRANSMISSION NEAR GLEN BURNIE, MARYLAND? They *had* a good reputation as well, and I had nothing but nightmares. Those idiots are so stupid they couldn't find their asses with both their hands.

I had so many problems with those dumbasses that it's unreal. First, the transmission was leaking. Second, it was a torque converter. Third, it started slipping and was the valvebody. When I picked up the car, the linkage was way off, and would drive forward in Park.

When I brought the car in for the slipping transmission, they told me they couldn't replicate the problem, despite the car being there for a solid month. Then they FINALLY experienced the problem. So then they slapped everything back together after *SUPPOSEDLY* installing a new valvebody. They still hadn't gotten the linkage quite right, but it worked well enough.

Fast forward 10 months and 8,000 miles, and the car was sitting again with a busted transmission, and only 2nd gear. I have since gotten the transmission rebuilt by a competent shop.

I have nothing but bad things to say about Chesapeake Transmission, and I hope that company burns to Hell.

Keep going through teh bbb as well. File a counter claim again, and also have another opinion. they should take care of this.

furtheremore,

I forgot to say, but if the BBB thing does not work, they can also take the case with you to court, or do a non-formal hearing, all free of charge!

have some other bad stories from here, and look up if they had any bad complaints with the bbb before.

at 2.8K for a rebuild you should have known to just buy a new T-56 and part out the old one...
