Trans guys inside please

I need to know what happens when a torque converter starts to go. The reason is that i'm not sure if my trans is bad or the torque converter was defective and is bad now. Also would it make a noise, cause there is a noise that sounds like it's coming from the front of the trans somewhere, like maybe the converter. The car sometimes slips real bad through all gears but other times seams fine and doesn't slip at all, so could it still be the trans irtself?? I just went ouside and took the car around the block and at first it was fine like normal and then it finally started to act up after a minute or two. Thanks.

Just FYI it could be the trans itself, the bands over time get glazed/break.

Well I guess I should've said it before, but my trans has only about 5K since the rebuild and converter install.

Sounds like another victim of a "Trans-Stop" shift kit. You guys should really start listening to my warnings about them...

You know you might be right cause the shift kit was put in about a month before my trans blew up the first time!! I had it rebuilt by my cousin, and about the same time later, here we go again.
