Unhappy Tranny temp guage problem..can ya help me?

Well I've installed my tranny guage in and I have a problem. The lighting works but as soon as I turn the ignition it jumps to max temp. Looked at the fuse panel to double check and I have 1 wire ground underneath the dash, another goes to a +12v source. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I just installed one last week. I'm assuming that you bought the temp sender also, where did you install it?

I put in the place of the fill hole. The fittings they gave out replace that plug. I think I found my problem but won't know for sure until I head downstairs. I grounded my light wire and another wire together. Hopefully that shoudl fix the problem.

You probably grounded the dimmer wire with it, splice that into your dimmer wire behind the fuse box. It'll dim when you turn your lights on.
Let me know what happens.

Angry

Well I double checked everything. 5 wires. 1 ground to engine, 2 sending wire, 3 light to dimmer, 4 light ground underneath dash, and 5 wire to ignition fuse in fuse panel. Soon as I turn the key it jumps to 250. The light use to work and now it no longer works.
How hard can this be? Am I in denial or is the damn guage broke?

Quite possibly it is broken. If the light worked, and now doesn't check the connections again (maybe they came loose).
If you followed the directions and wired them correctly it should work great. If not, try returning it. I know that's a pain because of where you are, but if nothing else, you'll have a new guage that you know is good.

The sending wire is grounding itdelf out. Run a new wire and see if it works. When the gauge goes to the max degree it means that you are grounging out the sending wire.
