Tranny Rebuild Questions

After working the entire winter on and off to put my lt's on my trans won't shift into 3rd with only 8,000 miles on it since the last rebuild. I found a guy who will rebuild it again using a corvette servo, indy red clutches and a precision torque converter for $1200 . So what do you guys think? I am starting to doubt all shops after being screwed. The car just revs after second and the guys at all the shops say the clutch is broke, the valves are starting to stick and when they dropped the pan my fluid was black. Any help is appreciated, I am in Lafayette , Indiana. if anyone knows of any good transmission people.
THANKS
CHRIS

Do a search....I can't remember the websites offhand but there some good ones out there where you can get race prepped 4l60's, TH350's or TH400's for a damn good price.

dont you get a warranty or something?? mine did the same, it was caused by the solenoids, and followed by a broken clutch.....it sucks......4L60E, is hard to get rebuild, it will brake and brake again....the next time my tranny brake, i will swap it to T56....4l60e sucks, it is so fragile

yeah they "warranty" it for 1 year or 12,000 miles. Whichever come first and of course since I only drive it in the summer I am not even close to the 12k mark. It was rebuilt 2 years ago they said they would "cut" ME A DEAL AT $1200.

mine got rebuild by a local shop, and i install a trango shift kit, i guess if you dont know how to install them, it will break the tranny every 3000 miles, i'll just take it off, and install a tranny cooler....
