tranmission cooler hose keeps busting
tranmission cooler hose keeps busting
this is the THIRD time the hose for the cooler has busted in 2 months!! the tranny is rebuilt...i made sure the tranny cooler wasnt clogged when i first installed it.
i've been using rubber hoses so far...i'm gonna upgrade to braided hoses.
could the rubber hoses be too weak for the tranny line pressure exerted?

I'v never heard of such a problem.1 thing that would cause it to pop off - well that i can think of
pressure. Pressure due to head or from the trans pumping hard
did you clamp dow the hoses?

yep, hose was clamped down real tight...
i'm just gonna take off the cooler and see if it's clogged up or something...only thing i can think of...
What kind of cooler are you using?
I'd think a good tight clamp and a clean barbed fitting should be more than enough to retain the pressure. Are you sure you installed the lines correctly? I'd imagine if you didn't connect the return line properly that pressure could build up and blow off the hose.

i think i figured out why the damn thing keeps busting!
the rubber hose isnt big enough...at the tip of the cooler, the diameter is bigger than the rest of the cooler line, so when we force the smaller rubber diameter hose on that bigger cooler tip, the rubber is stretched too much and weakens, and causes it to pop after a while...
A rubber hose with regular clamps will be fine.
I had to splice one of my steel lines that comes from the tranny to the radiator and I did it with a rubber hose and just used regular hose clamps.
I plan on fixing it right in the future but I have had the tranny downshift hard into first (A4) many times and it has never even drewled...lol
