Awhile ago, (3or4months) thought the A4 went south, lost 3rd & 4th gear, took it to dealer, who replaced the TPS sensor....no problems for awhile, took it down a back road couple weeks ago and in 4th kicked it down to passing gear to WOT, SES came on and lost 4th, brought it home and removed neg cable from battery and rehooked it up, everything back to normal. Then it happened again, again can reset by removing the neg. cable...
This sound like a bad TPS sensor ? or is something else causeing the sensor to fault ??
Anyone with ideas/thoughts?

I would have the car scanned for codes. Numerous transmission codes do not set off the SES light.
