Total cam swap cost
Re: Total cam swap cost
Depends on what components you plan on using, but if your going to replace everything that can be when you have it opened up, plan on:
-Camshaft
-Rockers
-Springs
-Guide Plates (if needed)
-Valve Stem Seals
-Pushrods
-Lifters
-Keepers, Spacers, & Nuts
-New Valve Covers (if your rockers are too tall for the stock covers)
And since you have to take them off to replace the cam shaft, you could also replace:
-Optispark
-Water Pump
-Timing Set
-Timing Cover (if want to swap in a vented Opti)
-Oil Pan Gasket
-Timing Cover Seal
It all depends how involved you wanna get.

Re: Total cam swap cost
im kinda just feeling it out right now, i would love to do it myself but i dont have a garage that is capable of doing it, tools aren't they problem though. im just trying to get a handle of what the costs are for parts alone. i appreciate all the responses too.
Re: Total cam swap cost
Heres how mine went:
used cc306: $150
new cc612 springs: $110ish
valve seals: $15
new timing set: $110ish
used low mile oem lifters: $30
gasket set for everything $30ish??
So I had a cc306 running for @ $400. However I broke a stock rocker with about 2k on the cam swap. Nothing was damaged, just put another stock rocker on it and been driving it since. I will have some crane gold rr's here on Thursday.
Did it in a friends drive way over the course of 2 days with the two of us working most of the day. Keeping everything clean took a lot of time, worth it though.
Also remember oil changes, coolant etc. There is always something unplanned. The valvespring tool they rented us sucked, so I had to buy one. Also bought a gear puller. Had to rent a pulley puller.
This was my experience and about half the cost of what most people told me it would be. Really wish I could have done it all right to begin with though.
