Torque Converter Vigilante or Yank

I have to take a decision by monday

I know both are good and expensive
I have $1k to spend

I'm going to get a 3400 -3600 stall speed and later on I'll be using N20, get my heads ported and a c306 cam)

I daily drive my car on the city a lot (Philly) and the highway

I refuse to have a TC that will break on me, so what I'm most interested in knowing is...... If any of you have had a bad experience which either one.

from http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com

Vigilante goes $730

and Nitrous/Blower Converters Yank goes form $840 to $980

I don't care pay $250 extra on the yank, just to have peace of mind.

I heard that yank's customer suck... it's that true??

Please, if you guys know someone who had a bad experiance with either one, please let me know ASAP.

thanks a lot
leo

I can't tell you from experience but after searching around and asking on this board about which converter to get I finally decided on a 3200 Vigilante. It seemed to be the best converter for what I was looking for.

Another reason I decided against a Yank was because the last time I was at the track I saw a guy running a 4000 Yank and was having nothing but trouble from it. It wasn't stalling like it was suppose to.

He was very disappointed with it so I was leaning towards the Vigilante from the beginning.

I could go into excruciating detail but let me summarize:

Yank builds some good products but their customer service can be horrible. You never know if you're going to get bad service or not, but those who get bad service from Yank regret it, trust me. I have experience with both companies and Vig. was excellent and the product does what it claims.

Don't take a chance on getting put through hell with Yank. That's just my $.02

Plus I am still trying to find my 1.7 60' times on Nittos. My personal opinon YANK SUCKS and so does their customer service!!

I am also running a CC306 with No2 on the way and I just picked up a SY3500 free shipping if you call yank direct,
895.00 flat havent installed it yet but it sure looks like a quality product. yank makes 2 3500s the ST3500 is for primaraly slicks, the SY3500 is for street tires, it has a slower more drawn out curve, since I run street tires I went with this one. I wont have it in for another week or so though.

The Vigilante that goes for $730.... will it handle my future mods?
(C306 cam, nice ported heads, all bolt-ons, and 200shot)
P.s. I'm going to be using some (most) of the money that I save to get my heads ported to get the TC ... but it need the sucker now

this is enough for me not to even concider yank, Thanks! If you have the time you could e-mail me or post the details I really want to know.

I'm looking at http://www.dynamicconverters.com/converters.htm too... they are local, and I heard that they make some real good product.

thanks a lot everybody

I guess I should have been a little clearer about the Vigilante. I just ordered it yesterday. I just liked the feedback I was getting about the Vigi better.

I have a Yank. Pro Yank Extreme 3800.
I started off with a PYE3400 and loved it,drove almost like a stock converter, and performed awesomely. I killed the trans, sent it back for a restall, and had no problems with Yank at all.

The new converter has worked very well, and no complaints. I much prefer a converter with the anti balooning plates for nitrous abuse.

Dynamic makes some great stuff, although im not sure if does much for these overdrive trannies. Cant hurt calling and seeing what they say.

As far as the old 3400,on the brakes i could get it damn near to 3k before it wanted to push through the breaks.

I still drive it on the street, just havent had much time between the weather/work/and illness. Had it down in OC md few weeks back for the car cruise and drove it there, roughly 24 mpg.

I have a 2600rpm Vig in my car. Now with the Stroker and Blower it stalls at ~3000rpms. I like it, so far no problems and I have never heard of any guys having trouble with the Vigs.

Thanks,
Claude

talkin to seth at combo- he said hes blown up EVERYTHING except a vigi. Vigis are also ususally more effiencent and have better tq multipiclation rates as well as being cheaper.

I think they have the best prices around, call them up and ask them for prices while your in the game
