When it comes to Torque converters, they are a perfect example of "u get what u pay for" Some ppl buy the cheaper ones, such as B&M, TCI, or SLP. A lot of people are very happy with them, however, some ppl do not see significant gains, or the stalls fail on them. If u go with a quality brand, such as Vigilante or Yank, u see a better difference in performance and they are bullet proof, yet more expensive.

www.ls1speed.com or www.racenet.net have good prices on the end torque converters

Generally I agree with a "You get what you pay for" statement, but in this case I don't. I have a TCI 3200 TC in my car and have used them for years and don't see the need to pay as much as $500 more for a Yank or Vig. I know of many people who have had problems with these in the past as well. My 60' times dropped by more than a half of a second with my TCI.

I say dont go much high than 2800. If you do it's going to murder your gas mileage (if you even care).

I just knew that Trey was going to step on here on this one. Racenet has been going to the dumps lately.

I agree, check out cmotorsports.com, I have been very happy with them and there products.

I have been looking at converters as well. I bought a used one, and it crapped out pretty much. I refuse to pay $735 for a vigilante stall, I don't care how good it is.

I think I'm going with a midwest stall converter, it's $539. They have been highly recommended to me. Do a search for them on the web and check them out.

Also consider a Midwest converter. I have the 3000 2.5 str and i love it. 2 free re-stalls and same warranty as the big guys just a few hundred dollars less.

Check out www.hpaparts.com

Call and speak with John and you'll be set. 1 of the best customer service guys I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

Hey, thanks for all the replies, I'm going to check out all of the sites you guys suggested...except maybe racenet.com...I'm still a little confused on which stall range to go with...someone said to go no less than 2800 and someone else said to go no higher than 2800...more opinions would be helpful...thanks Jason

3200 would be "optimal" for racing

2800 for the street because you'll barely notice it

3000 is a happy median

if you think you might add a hotcam kit.. or even RR's, go 3000 or so

dotn go above 3400 on stock cam and heads from what i've read here.

Just got an e-mail back from a guy at Midwest. He said they have a few converters for under or right around $500. I'm gonna call him today or tomorow and discuss some specifics. I'm thinking the one I'll get will come out to about $530-540.
