Unhappy Too much play in steering wheel

I have about an inch of play on my steering wheel.
I've changed the rack and pinoin and tie rod ends but its still the same.

What else should I look at?

Thanks

Your steering joint (rag joint) is shot.
It is right beside the drivers side header, so it gets fried easily.
Good luck!

Yup what Hungry said.

Buy a new steering shaft from a dealer or pick up a low mileage one from a wrecker. Its the part you disconnect when you do headers.

Buy one of these, and feel the road more, and never deal with a bad rag-joint again

Yes, the rag joint eliminator is what I did as well. Very good, cheap, and solved my problem.

The heat from the headers usually destroy the rag joing in the steering linkage and cause a tremendous give in the steering wheel, at times may be dangerous or fun.

cheers

The eliminator kit looks like a round alum disc with holes in it.
Couldnt I just make this myself?
