Planning on gutting then putting straight pipe through my cat, think this will be to loud and cause local cops to pull me over and inspect my car ?

 

just refrain from going WOT near them and you should be fine...

 

Cats give our cars that deep tone sound, soon as they come off the car gets a throaty sound IMO.

 

Nah, you'll be ok. Just don't get loud near the police. Ride normal.

 

you should be fine, i leave my cut out open often, ive nailed it in front of the police(taunting them) and have not had a problem during the day, i did get stopped by a ann arbor cop at night once, asked me what kind of exaust i had and he said it sounded good, so you do find the cool officers once in awhile ..

 

For sure...i cant step on the gas AT ALL when a cop is near by, otherwise its bye bye car...

 

I've drove around with my cutouts open before. Basically open headers on my car. Very loud! Scared the crap out of me when a cop pulled out and drove next to me for several blocks. I just drove at like 1500rpm and he didnt seem to care. Just be carefull where you are. Where I was cops really didnt care about anything but getting drunk, driving, and getting away with it, that is until they wrecked. Damn corrupt cops!!

 

awsome guys, thanks for the input, o from what you say cutouts sound cool. Whats better sounding, cutouts or straight pipes ?

 

Not sure what you mean by straight pipes. Do you mean straight pipes right off the headers....if so then it would be the same as having a cutout or two. If you mean offroad pipe in place of cat......then a cutout in that case would be much louder. Get both....I do, and it's very loud with it uncapped...but can be quite capped. You get best of both worlds and can have it loud whenever you want and quite when you don't.

 

Oh and as far as the sound of a cutout. IMO, it sounds like a Nascar. Just raw and nasty sounding.

 

The wonderful thing about a 6-spd car is that if you do get caught haulin' *** at WOT you throw it into 6th and it's like you've got a stock exhaust all over again
