Ok the motor that came out of my car was a 95 lt1 with the vented opti cover and it didnt have the holes for the reluctor wheel or whatever it is inside the timing cover. My question is this. Can you take a motor that has the timing cover with the holes at the bottom and the reluctor wheel and take out the wheel and replace it with a timing cover that doesnt have the holes. and will it be OK??
yea the crank sensor. Its got this metal disk thing inside the timing cover around the crank snout. Basically what happend is i ordered a new engine and they sent me this one (the one with the crank sensor in the timing cover. We decided that we might be able to just take my old timing cover off my old engine 95lt1 obd1. and take off this new cover and slid the wheel off and just install my old timing cover. That is going to be ok right?

If you use your 95 hub, you will need to remove the reluctor and also replace the crank key with the 93-95 style key. The 95 hub is longer than the 96-97 one and the 96-97 key will keep the 95 hub from going on all the way.

Thats interesting, my 95 hub has no key way, its smooth all the way around. My crank snout doesnt have a key either, its just like a little groove in the snout. I know the key will come out of the crank snout so if i remove it will my hub go on?
