Tired Lt1

My car just does not seem up to par for the mods that it has at all. Im selling my truck right now and looking for and ext. cab so i think i am going to take some of the equity to "freshen" it up a bit. I'am also going to buy a vortech v2 kit off a guy who lives in my area, but thats not going on till i get some forged pistons and stuff. so what should i start with to get this thing running where it should, fuel pump, new opti, plugs, wires, injectors, are these things i should do. I mean it is a beast of the line but it just seems like it loses so much power after 40 or so

How many miles are on it? I would start with simple stuff, such as a fuel filter IMO.

Re: Tired Lt1

i just got my tune from madz28 and i really didn't notice anything different. Is there anyway to check the fuel pressure with the scanmaster, if now how can i? and is it very hard to change the valve springs, i was thinking since i will have some money left over i was gonna do rockers and stuff so i could do springs at the same time but im not sure its a job i could take on myself. How hard is it?

Cam is the edelbrock performer cam and the heads flow (from what i hear) pretty much like stock, (Performer Heads). i havent checked all the specs on it yet. i just got the car recently and have only been driving it maybe 100 miles a week truck for the rest of my driving. I drive A LOT. i just want this thing to run good
thanks for all the help

Buy a fuel pressure gauge i think they are like 40 bucks or something. And you car doesn't have a lot of mods, like you said the heads are basicly like stock and im guessing that performer cam is also.

Re: Tired Lt1

hey mitchell. if you want to check your fuel pressure you can check out a pressure gauge from autozone with a deposit youll get back. pretty simple. and if you havent changed the fuel filter. you should do that just because.

what im thinking would be a huge gain in power for you right off the bat, without digging into the bottom end for a while, is to get a set of the trickflow heads, hot cam kit and the supercharger. the cam kit im sure is head and shoulders above the performer cam youve got now, and the heads have bigger combustion chambers (and are 2.02/1.60s)that will lower your CR for the supercharger. then later when you get the forged internals youll be set.

now its not as radical as some would tell you to do, but you still have to pass smog. and the GM hot cam worked really well with the SC even though its not really a "blower" cam. and ive heard a lot of other ca. guys say the same.

and im sure a tune up would be good. wires and maybe a little colder plugs....easy stuff. i got the bosch wires from autozone, they have a lifetime warranty. they said no questions asked. or you could find some cheap taylor wires off ebay.

hit me up.

Re: Tired Lt1

You may feel like you've got nothing under the hood. Realize, the most of us gain 20-30hp and are happy for a couple of days, after that it feels like stock. The operative question is, how do you fair in a race? If you're losing, then be concerned. If not, your seat of the pants gauge may be a little off.
