Tire Size Question

I know this question has been beaten to death, and yes I did a search, but there are so many opinions some say yes some say no...but i haven't seen any pics or anything...

So will a 275 40 17 fit on a 17x8 wheel? I really want to increase the tire size for a little better traction, but my wheels are only 8 inches wide...someone had posted saying many people run that size, does anyone have pics?

Thanks

8" wheel width is far too small for a 275 section width tire. 9" is the smallest I'd ever use with a 275, and 9.5" is much better.

Thanks I appreciate it

StupidLT1TAGuy: That is the opinion of many people, I remember seeing a 275 on a 8.5 inch rim and I could not tell the difference in the sidewall between that and a 9 inch....thats why I am thinking that a 275 on an 8 inch rim won't be that bad
