tire size
I'll let you know how my ZR-1 17 x 9.5 38mm offset will work with my Hoosier 275/40-17's, I'm waiting on the new wheels to come in. They will be pushed outboard by 1/2" over my Borbet's. I run 17 x 9.5 Borbet's with 46mm offset and have zero problems. 17 x 11's (50mm) with 315's are going on the back and I'm having to remove the bumpstops and do a little pounding so they don't rub.
I have a set of Corvette C5 wheels 18x10.5 on the back and 17x9.5 on the front. I am running Nitto 285x35x18s on the back and 275x40x17 on the front. I had a problem with the tire rubbing on the inside of the wheel well and I had to beat it in with a hammer a little to stop it. It only rubbed when accelerating out of a turn. With 17s you may not have a problem but your wheel is wider then mine an I suspect you will if using something larger then a 285.
I also have a problem with the 10.5 rear wheels hitting the jounce bumper (axle stop bumper) when jacking the car up by the frame. So to get the wheels off you need to jack it up by the rear. These are just some things to think about.
