tips for mid/low 13s?

Hey guys, ive recently been challenged to a race, its going to happen at the end of june, so i have time to play with my car.

right now, i have !cat !egr !AIR, new coil, new clutch, msd wires, and a cai on the way. i also have lt's and a catback with cutout planned. will this get me into the mid/low 13s? ill be running bfg DR's for the race also.

im thinking on top of what ive already listed, maybe an ewp would help?

thanks

First question I have is against what car? Those mods should get you there. Is this at the track? From a dig? roll? What you have listed is a start. What about a tune from PCMforless or MADZ28.com? I would also box of your LCA/PHR and install some poly bushings. Maybe relocation brackets. Traction is your best friend, especially from a dig. What about 4.10? Instead of the cat-back save the $ and just do the cutout. You can then use the $ for other mods.

Track conditions and driver ability will play a part, but typically with those mods planned, you should hit mid 13s pretty easy.

I agree on the catback/cutout. Cutout will give you the power, while staying stock on the catback give you the sleeper effect with the cutout closed. Spend on 4.10s soon and get used to driving it, as traction will be an issue with 4.10.

I also think you have poor tire choice. BFG DRs are nice toys, not a serious drag tire. I like MT ET Street Radials; some local guys have gone into the 1.2 and 1.3 short times on them, they are street legal, and do have a tread pattern. They can be driven on street, thoght they wear out in about 3000=-5000 street miles, but like all DRS are not excactly safe in the rain. IE, you CAN drive in the rain, but must NEVER forget, even for a second that you are on DRs.

Mods in sig, 13.3 at 105.17 mph. Fresh tune up before I went to the track. This was done on street tires with a 2.1 sixty foot. I did not have the cut out open on that run either.

add headers and you might get a 12 with some good driving.

i have a comparable mid-13 pass in my sig... on street tires w/headers.

thanks for the replies. i dont want to do gears because this car sees abilene texas-cincinnati ohio atleast twice a year.

i already have the bfg dr's at home, so im not going to buy different tires.

this will be done at the track, and as for the car im going to be against, still up in the air, the guy that challenged me has been talking crap about my car for the better part of the last 6 months, and i recently discovered his father is going to be buying him something (dont know what yet, but im sure mid 13's will take care of it, but if not, ive got a couple other car choices, just look at the sig)

Low 13's should be easy with those mods. But I do agree with the BFG'S not being the best. They have to be heated up very good to work, otherwise they wont work.

Yea I see the sig. but what does that prove if you win in a car that he was not talking about If that is the case than why worry about modding the Z then? The other funny thing is you are concerned about a kid that does not even have a car that is running his mouth. Come on he is waiting for daddy to buy him a car and it seems that you are listing cars in your sig that you have access to and are more than likely daddy's. Talk is cheap. Why waste your time and money on this chump??????
