Timing set ?

I'm getting ready to start putting together parts list for my cam swap. I am going with mechanical water pump. I know some people have a problem with the gm hd timing set but was wondering what the general opinion was of the lunati set.

The Lunate sets I have seen look just like stock GM sets (down to the GM numbers stamped on the gears). I guess it depends on which one(s) you might be looking at.
What problems do some people have with the GM ED set?

A lot of people encountered to much slack with it.But there is a oversized crank sprocket available to solved the problem.

I`ve got the GM ED set, no problems. I did get the oversize crank sprocket from Thunder Racing though. Set up has been on the car since `02.

I don't believe it is a GM part. You can look it up at Thunder Racing.

Next stupid question gm part number 12555885,12555887 are they from the HD timing set? On parts list for these parts they just list LT4 sproket and chain. Thanks shoebox for the great site.

A little poking around seems to indicate that those are the numbers for the regular LT4 set.

I found crankshaft sprocket P/N 14088784, and timing chain P/N 14088783 said to be the LT4 ED parts (used on SBC ZZx engines, too), but don't know what the separate cam gear p/n is. You might do some more hunting to verify.

Talk to Bret, he has recommended them to me and says they are a good timing set.
