Which timing set..

Im doing a cam install along with springs, lifters ect.

Its been recommended i do a timing chain also, i would like to get as rugged as possible, without spending $300 bucks for the LT4 Extreme duty, and one that will work with the stock timing cover and water pump.

So should i just do the stock replacement? or the Lt4 stock replacement? any suggestions are appreciated.

I think the stock LT4 set is only a little less $$ than the ED set, so that is why most people don't go with it for the money. Keeping the stock water pump, stock, LT4 or LT4 ED are about the only choices.

Im running a taboo setup.
Ive got the whole Lt-4 conversion on a new stock replacement chain and sprocket.. ie. cutdown hotcam dowel pin etc.. etc.
car runs fine, no clicks or feeling of breakage....
I guess im proof that it doesn't matter.

Yep I got mine for $170 last summer looking around. I just got lucky on Ebay.

Call Jason Cromer at 1-877-726-8295 to get a quote on the LT4 set.

I wouldnt go so far as to say it doesnt matter. While the stock chain will work, there are definitely more durable chains out there.

I put about 30k on my last stock chain set. When I pulled the motor apart for a cam change, the chain was extremely loose and had started wearing/damaging the leading side of the teeth on the cam gear. Knowing that I was going to be spinning the motor even higher this time around, I didnt feel comforatable going back with the stock chain set. IMO, it's worthwhile to look at better chain sets, while the engines apart, if you happen to have the extra money...

For the price of the EX duty you can go with a electric water pump and Cloyes double roller chain for roller cam engines.
