What year is your car? I'm assuming a 96 or 97 with a keyless hub. Anyway with the dots lined up on the crank and the cam with #1 piston at top dead center, the arrow on the hub should be up. But what I also did with mine is just look into the hub. You should see the marking on the inside from where the keyway should be and line it up. I might be a lil off on this but check before you do it.

Acctually dot to dot is TDC for #6cyl. 12 12 is #1 TDC.

#1 and #6 cyl peak at the same time, the cam determines which one is at TDC.

Huh.....how does the cam determine which one is as TDC????? Even without the cam in #6 will hit TDC when you turn the crank. That never changes. What you said was 12 and 12 was TDC for #1.

Correct, cam dot and 12 and crank dot at 12 = #1 TDC.

Yes and your #6 cyl is at its peak also. #1 and #6 peak at the exact same time, you can bring #1 to its peak then install the timing set "dot to dot".

There is a different between a cyl reaching its "peak" and TDC.

He's right. On the LT1 12 and 12 is #1 TDC. Dot to dot is #6 TDC. I figured this out when doing my cam and "dot to dot" made for lots of loose roller-rockers when adjusting the valves, heh.

12 and 12 is #1 TDC on an LT1. Shoebox helped me figure this out

I agree with the way Grendal explains it above.
