Question Timing Cover

This may sound like a dumb ? but the mechanic that is building my engine told me that the stock timing cover was plastic but I thought it was metal, am I right or is he? Idk if hes just trying to get some extra money off of me.

Your mechanic is an idiot. It is impossible to mistake silver and possibly corroded aluminum for plastic

Never heard of a plastic cover for any SBC engine. That guy would not be building my engine.

The 96+ Vortecs in trucks and vans are plastic or some type of composite.

But yeah, screw that guy. Get your engine the hell out of there.
