Timing chain went. Any recommendations?
GM LT4 HEAVY DUTY but is lots of $$$$$ over $200.00 I think.
Check with www.gmpartsdirect.com maybe cheaper.
Cloyes (sp) makes one too not sure of price.

If your running the non-vented opti, then I believe you're stuck with either the stock chain, or the lunati set. Havent heard much feed back on the lunati set though - it's a link belt chain like the stock piece. While Lunati claims is a better HD piece, their own tech line didnt know enough about it to tell my why or how it was better.
im a firm believer in the electric water pump, vented opti cover, REAL timing chain setup. if you switch to the electric pump and the right opti cover you can go with a much cheaper yet much stronger timing chain like a cloyes, or whichever you prefer. i know CMotorsports can hook you up. the LT4 ED just isnt worth the money to me.

Are you guys saying that the lt4 chain from thunderracing for $300.00 wont work?? whats the website for that cmotorsports,... www.cmotorsports didnt work for me. Also i am gonna go with the electric pump, but whats a vented opti cover?? Can i just buy 1??? and where? How much is a cloyes timing chain?? Sorry about all the questions, im clueless.
In order to run the cloyes/electric h20/ you need to switch to the vented opti spark. That requires new opti, timing cover, vacuum lines, and opti pigtail. However, this is a really nice set up and upgrade from where you are now. You get a super nice timing chain, a better opti design, and an electric h20 to free up some ponies and keep the car cooler. Thats the same setup i switched over to.
You can go with the stock chain, and an oversized sproket to tighten it up (or lt4 like that), or go with the extreme duty chain. I have an extreme duty chain laying in a box in the garage that was on my car for 3-4k miles. Took it off when i went double roller. It was a little too loose for my likes, but def better than stock. Has crank sproket, cam sproket, and chain. Let me know if you are interested. ThunderRacing also sells a bigger sproket for the extreme duty chain to tighted it up

How's he going to run the ED or LT4 chain and gears without converting to vented opit??? Didnt think that was possible.
actually, hmmm. The double roller is a for sure you need the vented opti. I thought the lt4/ED was ok on both versions. I used that timing set of my impala SS(vented) so i didnt have any issues.
Can anyone say for sure that the lt4 will work/wont work on a non vented car?

JARED, QUIT DOUBLE POSTING, POST *****...
now to stay on subject, i do believe that the ED chain will accept the non vented opti. but the cloyes double roller does have to be converted to vented opti/electric water pump.

Non-vented opti were on the 93-94 cars
Vented optis are on the 95-97 cars
The reason sone timing chains work, and others dont is with how the opti is turned. Here is the best explaination possible
