timing chain placement ..please help
hey,
i got the old timing chain and gears off im ready to replace them.
question is.. where do i put the alignament marks on the gears to sit.. and while doing this do i have to put my number one piston at tdc....
another question...do i have to loosten my oil pan to put my timing cover back on or can i do it as is?

Well, the sprockets will only go in one way, so you can't mess it up there. Easiest way to see if you got the chain installed right is by aligning dot to dot. Once you got the chain installed, do a couple of full turns to make sure the alignment stays the same.
I would loosen up the oil pan if I were you. I had a hard time putting mine in with the oil pan loose (new gasket) so you get the idea. Others have managed to put it back on without problems but I wouldn't take the chance.

well,
i put them on and i have the crank dot at 12 and the cam dot at 6 to where they point at eachother?
does that sound right, i really dont wanna mess this up, id hate to take this off again
