Timing chain options for LT1 while KEEPING mechanical WP

What options are there besides stock replacement and the GMPP "extreme duty" for timing chains, if one wishes to retain the mechanical drive waterpump?

Does the Extreme Duty set work fine with the stock cover or does it need to be clearanced?

I'm running the extreme duty timing set. I didn't have to modify anything, it just bolted on.

A sbc timing chain is identical to an LT1 chain. That opens up a few more options.

The stock chain is plenty strong...I still run a stock one which I replaced in 2005 when we did the cam swap just as PM...Never had any issues with it at all...

I guess it really boild down to if the OP is referring to the chain only or the timing set. It seems he is referring to the set, but it is not perfectly clear to all.

well i have in that case, we need pics!. just kidding, but that only difference is the cam gear. the crank gear and the chain are the same. I used to get new cam gears from the dealership for real cheap, that's why I suggested a sbc chain.

but seriously, where,s the pics. :P
