Times with LT4 conversion Kit??

A friend of mine has a 94 Z28 6-speed vert. He has these mods LT4 conv kit, rebuilt motor with Forged pistons, shorty headers, offroad y-pipe, flowmaster catback, cai, pcmforless tune, 4.10's. Here's the thing he only runs 8.5@84-85mph 1/8 w/ slicks . Is this all his car should be running or should it be doing better? How much power should he be making?

I have the kit in my car. My car ran a 8.1 @ 85 (1/8) and a 12.7 @ 107 (1/4) with a 1.94 sixty foot.

My car has a mail order tune from pcmforless, that I have not logged any runs yet to get it running right.

Here is what I ran with a rich tune, on a humid day, and spinning off the line with 275/40/17 street tires:

R/T - .740
60' - 2.234
330' - 5.885
1/8 - 8.825 @ 83.88
1000' - 11.363
1/4 - 13.497 @ 106.21

I need to get some things lined out, better shifter, better launch, get some suspension things fixed, and get it dyno'd so Alvin can burn me a new chip. Then I'm looking for 12's.

I gotta say ouch to that time.. my bolt on m6 car in the exact trim (street tires, 3/4 tank of gas) and 2.24 60 ft ran a 13.4 @104.. I know you mentioned some things needing fixed, does it need tuning? if you don't have LCAs that would help too.. still seems a bit low..

Still needs tuning, LCA's and panhard rod.
I have 3.73's, LT's, Y-pipe, 3" exhaust, CAI, 160*, 30 lb injectors, spec stage II.

Yeah, I was pretty p*ssed with the times, but just need to make some adjustments. My mph and formula 383's are close, I just need to get the 60' times down.

Getting a good 60' is the key for sure. The LT4 setup will run good, you just have to get the setup right. I am just beginning that, going to start logging runs and get the tune closer, and doing some suspension work.

So the times my friends car is putting out are normal? Just not the best that it could be.

The LT4 conversion kit is nothing extraordinary.

Heads/Intake that flow mildly better and a little more lumpy cam.

You can make 50-100+ more hp than that by porting the stock heads, matching intake, and a decent cam, for much less than the LT4 conversion.

My LT4 Hawk, which is a true LT4 (no hotcam) runs 13.3@107 (2.0 60') with just ECM tuning. I know of an LT4 SS (again no hotcam) which with just ECM tuning and 4.10s runs 12.8-12.9. With all that your friend has I'd expect he should be running mid 12s if he is a good driver. Not sure how that relates to 1/8 mile times, but it looks like he's got some room for improvement.
