I wanted something more aggressive. Like most people on here, I started off with a small cam then wished I went bigger. I went 12.61 with the ZZ409 and stock heads.

Since then I've picked up 85rwhp, and with identical 60ft times I'm only running 4 tenths but 6mph faster. My 1/8 mile times are still the same

Who knows?

I think the 847 may be the cam for me.

atljar, how much would lt1dave charge to tune a car? I am just around 3 hours from Cincinnati. Does he dynotune or tune at the track or what?

I dont want to put a price on his work, best off shooting him an email and asking him.

He got my cars timing curve running very smoothly just by driving it up and down the street, coming back, and reflashing, then repeating.

He didnt mess with the a/f ratios at all b/c he knew i was going to play with them myself at the track anyways.

I have seen him go to dyno shops and dyno tune, he is always at the track tuning peoples cars etc. Best off just emailing him and seeing what works best for the two of you. I know this next weekend he and I are headed down to BG for the f body shootout, so he may be hard to get ahold of.

OK, I just thought that maybe he had a set price to go by or something. There won't be any rush on getting a hold of him or anything, I don't even have the cam yet.

Do you think my 3200 Vigilante stall will be enough? I still have a free stall change.

Go any higher in stall with OBD1 and you are going to be having shift issues with the 4l60. 3200 should be more than ample however.

I know about the shifting issues, I had a 95 Formula with a 3000 stall and it wouldn't shift on slicks.

Not sure if the Camaro now has the problem or not, haven't had slicks on it yet.

I had the hot cam w/1.6 rr, and I installed the cc306 cam I am much much happier with it. Car picked up 4 tenths of a second in the 1/8 mile. All I changed was the Cam and had new tuning for the cam. I have yet to have it on a dyno But I hope to soon.
Good luck.

Yes that GM 847 is a very nice cam. I recommend it. I went with a custom grind comp. 236/244 at .608/.614 lift and 112 degrees lobe seperation and I am extremely happy with it. I havent had a chance to take it to the track or dyno it but its estimated around 360 rwhp. If I remember it was about 300 bucks for the cam but just remember if your going with a cam the size of the 847 your gonna be spending money on bigger springs and other little extras. It ended up costing me around 1200 bucks total for all parts, installation, and tunning from Tracey Scott at scott racing and performance www.ts-performance.com. He will tune your car on the street just like LT1Dave and they both do great tunning for around 150 bucks.

OK, guys now the big question, how much et do you think it would pick up at the track?

Here is what it has done as of now:
12.7 @ 106 with a 1.98 60' with a best mph of 107

I will be running ET Streets from here on out so you can figure the time with a good 60'.
