just installed LT headers on my friends camaro. there is now a ticking sound. figured it was the crappy gaskets taht came with so i got fel pro ones and installed them. but the tick is still there so im trying to narrow it down. i did order a egr block off plate but ended up ordering the ls1 version on accident.

so im just gonna make him one but currently i have a thin piece of aluminum covering the hole temporarily.. just curious if this could make the sound cause there is a couple tiny holes in it not totally sealed.

More than likely it is an exhaust leak somewhere. Try the "hose technique" to find where it is coming from. Get a section of pipe and put one end to your ear and the other to where you think the ticking is coming from. It will allow you to pin point it a lot easier. Also you can check for carbon streaks if you have a bad enough leak.

If you actually don't have the EGR hooked up and it is just open on the header then it will definitely make a ticking noise.
