Is this ticking noise normal?

When I turn on my Car, it makes a fast tick noise. ( everyone says this is normal for an LT1) and when I drive around 1,500 RPMs It gets faster and faster as the RPMs go up. is this normal? Its not loud or anything just audible enough to notice.

Thanks!

Do you have roller rockers?
Have you ever messed with the valves?

Most likely its valvetrain related. A mostly stocj valvetrain should be rather silent, but could possibly need an adjustment.

Mine makes rocker noise, just a whisper though, so I don't think it's a big deal....my motor is pretty fresh too.

What he is asking you is, have you done or had any work done to any part of the top end of the motor, or is everything stock to your knowledge?

Could also be an exhaust leak, that can lead to a ticking noise as well.

It's always ticked, I just installed The SLP Loudmouths. It sounds like it comes from the Intake manifold. I'm not positive though.

Nothing in the intake manifold that would tick.

Probobly the valvetrain (rockers, valvs, etc)

More pain in the *** than its worth fixing it

wtf. its not a PITA. it takes like 10 minutes to pull the valve covers off and maybe a hour to adjust them all.

Yea, there's a lot of noise coming from the valve covers to. What causes this ticking and is it bad?

Check for exhaust leaks. Check the fitting from the exhaust manifold to the AIR pump.
