Thunk noise

Alright, I have a slight problem, and im not sure what it is. Every now and then, around 10-30 if I hit the gas hard enough for the car to downshift, sometimes the car sounds like its gasping for air (like a choke) then a clunk noise follows.

If you need any more info let me know. Its a 94 A4 with a K&N filter only. thx for any info

It could be your Transmission mount. When it broken it makes a thunk sound when you get on it.

Jack up the car and look under the Transmission cross member. You'll see a rubber mount mounted to the middle of the cross member. See if its ripped. If it is then buy a new one. Its a easy fix.

sounds like you've got a knock, could be plenty of things, is it just intermittent or does it happen often?

Could it be something that is connected to the engine (CAI for example) that is prying back or hitting something else when the engine twits from torque? Just an idea.
