Throttle Body Question
I did a search and all I could come up with is that a throttle body is only worth it once you "break into the engine". So my question is with my horsepower and H/C combo would it be worth it? How much hp do you think its worth? I know i can put a 52mm on without making the intake manifold opening bigger, so is it worth it to bore and go 54mm or 58mm? I have AS&M headers and love the quality so I really want to go with one of their pieces. I know I won't get much from it but I don't have much left to do to my car and am lookin' to squeeze a couple more ponies out of her NA before I do a power adder. Thanks alot.
I am kinda in the same boat. I dont have any head work done but I wouldnt mind having the throttle body for later on when I do my heads. I have looked on ebay and there are a few guys that sell stock throttle bodies that have been bored out and had new hardware put in them. They are only about $120 and for about $20 more you can get them powder coated red, black, or polished. In my opinion they are a pretty good deal. I think I saw them in 52, 56, 58mm sizes. On your car a bigger throttle body could be worth 10rwhp since you have h/c and a 355. Just giving you my input. AS&M does make pretty good products so its pretty much just your budget. Have a good day. Dustin.

Awesome thats kinda what I was thinkin'. Around 10rwhp, but I don't know whether to go with a 52, 54 or 58...Also does anybody know how big the new Edelbrock intake manifold opening is? Maybe I will just do both of those at the same time. Any suggestions?
Impressive numbers from the hotcam. With that power level you could go with a 58mm tb. The intake openings could be enlarged while it's still on, just need to stuff it with rugs and grease to catch the shavings.
