Throttle Body Question
Throttle Body Question
A while ago I bought a used 52mm throttle body from an ls1tech.com member. When it arrived, I noticed that there were holes drilled into the blades of the throttle body... I was told that it wouldn't affect anything with my car and that he 'tuned' his car to the large cam by drilling the TB blades. So, is it true that it would not affect anything with my car? I should have asked this a long time ago on the board.... I am having a problem with my car running rich. Could this have anything to do with that condition? I had to adjust the TPS to get the correct voltage when the throttle body was installed; it's in the correct range.
Re: Throttle Body Question
The holes will let in "idle air", causing the IAC valve to close down. If it closes all the way down, without getting the RPM down it belongs, your idle might be too high. Other than messing up the IAC counts, it shouldn't do any harm.
Re: Throttle Body Question
Thanks Fred!
I'm still trying to figure out that rich condition with my car... I've been pretty busy as of late, but I think tomorrow morning I will swap O2's and check plugs.
