Throttle Body Bypass for '94 Z28

Throttle Body Bypass for '94 Z28

I looked on Shoebox's site and found one for a 1995-97 but nothing for a '94... can it be done for a 1994 Z28? If so is there a guide that I either missed or is it the same as the one i found?

What are the benefits of this mod? I know it keeps the air colder but what else does it do as far as horsepower goes?

How easy is it to do? Do i run the risk of ruining something important? Do i need to drain my coolant?

If someone could answer these for me it would be greatly appreciated.

yes it can be done, you just need a few small parts ... whereas you dont need anything to do on 95-97 (i dont remember what parts though)

Its really easy I already had the parts. Shoeboxs website pics will work on the 94. Look in the search button under free mods you will find lots of info.

All that you need is a two sided hose barb. You can use the OEM clamps.I think the hose barb was 3/8? Can't remember for sure. It was simple though. Just pull off your intake elbow and it will be staring you right in the face.

I did some searching and anwered a few of my questions but not all. I still have a couple left and now I'm gonna add another.. heh sorry guys.

How much coolant comes out of the hoses while bypassing?

What does a 3/8" hose barb look like?

How easy is it to take off my Throttle Body and clean it? It's probably filthy as hell in there. I might just make a day of it and clean my K&N too.

It's simple, just did mine "dirty dirty" it's just four 10mm bolts and turn your throttle to open the butterflies and remove the throttle cable. About 10min it could be on the work bench. I used WD-40 and a rough scouring pad and it looks brand new now

once u have you your throttle body off.....clean your Throttle Body, IAC,& check ur TPS, with some intake cleaner or carb cleaner..Some good things to do while you have it off.

Ah, but i am a n00b, I have no idea what the hell I am doing. I have read about 50 posts on this topic and I have the confidence to try it out. I know exactly where stuff is supposed to go and connect onto, so i think i'll be ok, plus i printed out a couple diagrams just incase i run into some problems.

A hose barb is one of those male things that goes into a hose and it's got ridges to keep it from slipping off so easy.

See the way these things have the barbs? You need that, but straight and two sided.

Yeah, now that i think about it its very similar to my heater core bypass i had to do about 4 times in my old '73 T-Turd. POS kept blowing up. But with that experience i'll be able to do this no problem, my main concern is the throttle body, and how easy thats gonna be to get off the car. I don't want to mess up any sensors or anything, thats all i need right now, car is running very good and for me to jack it up.

If you aren't sure about pulling off the TB then don't. Just do the bypass for now.

Yeah that makes sense. But i heard its easier to pull of the passanger side hose with it off, and after looking at it, it makes a lot of sense. I'm about to go do it right now, along with cleaning my K&N Filter, so i'll let you guys know how it goes by tonight.

I have a 94-95ish Camaro.... The setup is a tad bit different. .... wait no it isn't... now I remember all I needed was a 2 end brass conector and some plug caps... all at pepboys under the low low price of $3.15

Takes three seconds to do...don't be a pansy... It helps...but it's not a feeler mod...

What's '94-95ish' it's either one[94 needs the connector] or the other [95 doesnt need the connector]
Unless it's like mine and is a 94 with 95 hose configuration..
